Is this street legal?

The JoltMoto Trail and Trail XL are off-road electric dirt bikes. In most U.S. states — including Oregon and California — they are not street-legal as delivered. Off-road use on private property, OHV parks, and designated trails is typically legal with no registration required (California requires a $10 OHV permit for public off-road areas). If you want to ride on public roads, you would need to register it as a motorcycle with your state DMV, which may require modifications, a title, and a motorcycle endorsement on your license. Most of our riders use these on trails, tracks, and private land — exactly what this bike is built for.

Which variant should I choose — Trail or Trail XL?

Both variants run the same 4,500W motor, the same 72V electrical system, the same 47 mph top speed, and the same IPX6 weather sealing. The differences are real but small: Trail XL gets a larger 25Ah battery (vs 22.5Ah on Trail), bigger wheels, and a longer rider-height range.

Choose Trail (17″/14″, 72V 22.5Ah, rider height 5′2″–6′1″) if you want a nimble, flickable bike for tight trails and technical riding, you're on the shorter or lighter side, or this is your first electric dirt bike.

Choose Trail XL (19″/17″, 72V 25Ah, rider height 5′2″–6′5″) if you're a taller rider (5′10″+), you ride rougher terrain with bigger rocks and roots, or you want that full-size dirt bike feel. Bigger wheels roll over obstacles more smoothly and absorb terrain better at speed; the larger battery gives you a bit more range too.

How does shipping work?

We ship from our California warehouse via freight carrier. In-stock bikes leave the warehouse within 1–2 business days; total transit time depends on your distance from California and typically lands between 3 and 10 days. When a batch sells out, the next shipment arrives in our warehouse in about 3 weeks before going out to you.

We confirm stock availability before you pay — we never collect money and then tell you the order is backordered. Once your order ships, we send tracking right away so you can follow it to your door.

How do I pay?

First you reach out — text, email, or the Ask Us form — and tell us which variant you want. We confirm stock, answer any questions, and send you an invoice with the payment instructions over email. Once payment lands we send tracking and your bike ships. We never ask for money up front; the invoice + instructions come only after we've confirmed your order is real and we can fulfill it. We are real people — you can text or email us any question before, during, or after your order.

What is in the box?

Your JoltMoto arrives in a reinforced shipping crate with the bike, the charger, and a basic toolkit. Some handlebars and mirrors may need attaching — typical setup takes 30–45 minutes and no special tools.

What if my bike arrives damaged?

Freight damage is rare but possible. When the carrier delivers, inspect the crate before you sign. If you see damage, note it on the delivery receipt — or refuse the shipment. Then contact us immediately with photos. We will work with the carrier and our supplier to make it right. Each shipment is backed by a supplier-side trade-assurance agreement on our end and we will go to bat for you.

What is the warranty?

1 year on the motor, battery, and controller. Standard wear items — tires, brake pads, chain — are not covered but are widely available and inexpensive. The QS motor is a respected name in the electric moto community with solid parts availability globally.

Do I need a license to ride?

Accepted Answer

For off-road use on private property or a designated OHV area: typically no license or registration required (check your local state rules). For street use: most states require a motorcycle endorsement on your driver's license and a registration plate. We recommend a helmet regardless — 47 mph is real speed.

Because these are large freight items, we cannot accept returns after delivery. That is why we encourage you to confirm stock, ask every question you have, and make sure the bike fits your needs before you pay. We are happy to talk it through — text or email us anytime before ordering.

That said: if your bike arrives broken or missing parts, we take care of it. Inspect the crate before signing, note any damage on the delivery receipt, and contact us within 24 hours with photos — we then work directly with the carrier and our supplier to ship replacement parts or resolve the claim at no cost to you. We pride ourselves on customer support and go above and beyond to make sure every rider ends up on a bike they're happy with.
